Roasted turkey trimmed with fresh herbsWanting to spice up your Thanksgiving meal this year? Look no further than your own backyard! Here are four essential herbs to include in your garden and holiday dishes:

Fresh Sage on a cutting board with a knife in the background
1. Sage

Sage is a classic go-to herb for the Thanksgiving staples, turkey and stuffing. The strong, earthy-like flavor pairs well with food rich in oils so throwing in a little with butter for the turkey and the stuffing is perfect for that extra something.

Fresh Thyme wrapped in twine with scissors in the background on a wooden surface 2. Thyme
Another great herb for your turkey recipe is
thyme. Thyme has a slightly bitter taste with
subtle notes of mint and lemon. Make a turkey rub with thyme and the juice and zest of lemons for a bright and flavorful roasted turkey.

3. Rosemary
Distinguish any Thanksgiving dish withFresh Rosemary wrapped in twine with a sprinkling of salt and peppercorn surrounding it rosemary, an aromatic and powerful herb with hints of lemon and pine. Rosemary goes well together with other distinct flavors, like garlic
and onion. Check out one of our favorite holiday sides for inspiration, Rosemary and Parmesan Scalloped Potatoes.

4. ParsleyFresh Parsley on a cutting board
Parsley is a popular herb used in a wide variety
of recipes and as a garnish. It is mildly bitter and peppery, and has a fresh, bright quality that helps balance and bring out the flavor in savory dishes. Fine-chop some fresh parsleyand sprinkle it onto any holiday dish just before serving for the perfect presentation.
